Manarola, Cinque Terre

Manarola, Cinque Terre

I first visited Cinque Terre back in 2014 with friends from work. This was before I had a camera or got into photography, but I knew then that I’d have to come back. And so I did. I found time late in 2019 to take a few days from work, fly to Pisa and get the train to La Spezia where I holed myself up for a few days. This was the photo I really wanted, and I although I definitely got lucky with the weather and the sunset, this is actually only one from several hours of standing around and taking many, many different photos. There’s something very special about this corner of Italy, with the colourful houses hanging on the edge of the cliffs. You can see the hint of pink from a sunset to the West and in the bottom corrner, a Lady in Red who - although it looks like she’s about to jump - was actually having her own photo-shoot at the time. I thought she made a nice additional detail to the picture. I hope this photo does justice to this beautiful little town, which is well worth a visit to see for yourself if you get time.
